2025-07-03 (Thursday) Location : School hall Leader : Student Growth team Category : Academic
On 3rd July, Commissioner of Hong Kong Customs and Excise Chan Tsz-tat visited his alma mater, Salesian English School, to share insights with S4 and S5 students. During his talk, he reflected on how the school shaped his career and encouraged students to embrace the motto "Alere Flammam" in service to society.
Chan joined the school in 1984, excelling academically and serving as Head Prefect. After graduating from CUHK's Government and Public Administration program in 1994, he joined Hong Kong Customs, rising to Commissioner by 2024.
He shared formative experiences from his school days - from a teacher's encouraging words to physical training that prepared him for his career. Chan emphasized how participating in the Hong Kong Current Affairs Quiz Competition cultivated his habit of staying informed, while his prefect experience taught him leadership skills.
Chan advised students: "Believe in yourself, persist in your ideals, and learn to handle relationships." He encouraged them to embrace continuous learning and adapt to changing times.
After the talk, Principal Josephine To and the Student Union President accompanied Chan on a campus tour, allowing him to revisit his old stomping grounds.
