2024-12-24Christmas Service of the Salesian Youth Altar Boys Sodality and In-School Oratory Christmas CarolingAround 20 altar boys assisted in various liturgical celebrations of the Lord's Nativity. In addition to preparing the venue, rehearsing the liturgy, and having the Christmas party, they also went to the Salesian Missionary House to sing Christmas carols for the priests and brothers living there. The Christmas Mass was presided over by Rev. Domingos Leung, the Provincial of the SDB, while the students served earnestly around the altar. 2024-12-23Hoi Ha Ecological field study - Coastal EcologistHoi Ha Wan Marine Park is one of Hong Kong's first established marine parks, which accomodates a wide variety of corals and fish. The Biology department, in collaboration with the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF), led a group of Form 5 Biology students on an ecological study and coral viewing trip to Hoi Ha Wan. Through activities such as studying the sandy and rocky shore ecosystems, a boat trip to visit the coral conservation area, and a laboratory tour, the students gained first-hand experience of Hong Kong's winter marine ecology and conservation efforts. 2024-12-13English Culture Week - PaddingtonThe movie Paddington was screened as the last activity in English Culture Week on 13th December at Flamma Cafe. Juice was served by our English ambassadors to the English VIPs that day. Students enjoyed the movie and learnt about this beloved fictional character in British culture 2024-12-12English Culture Week - Crossbar ChallengeThe Crossbar Challenge was held on 12 December, the third day of English Culture Week. Students and teachers were invited to challenge themselves and vote for the champion of the English Premier League this year, with Mr. Sala, our NET, as the commentator. Our students and teachers showcased their athletic skills in this exciting event. 2024-12-09Bleaching lacquer workshopBleaching lacquer is one of the intangible cultural heritages of China. Bleaching lacquer is a new and unique art technique. During the activity, students mastered the history of bleaching lacquer, principles, colors and application of related products. After being taught the techniques by the teachers, students enjoy themselves through different experiments and keep on making innovative attempts. The workshop effectively enhances students' artistic sense, relieves stress, and heals their psychological and emotional well-being. 2024-12-07"ICAN Good Parents" lecture plus BBQ activity by PTA AcademyOur school's alumni, Dr Wong Chung Kwong, JP, former professor and department head of the Department of Psychiatry at CUHK, gave a lecture on "ICAN Good Parents" to help parents improve their mental and psychological health, promote parent-child relationships, and learn effective ways to raise children. Parents were also invited to participate in an online course to deepen their understanding and practice of the "ICAN Good Parents" model. After the lecture, parents, students and teachers went to the first floor badminton court for a barbecue, creating a harmonious atmosphere. 2024-12-07Video Game and Digital Creativity WorkshopThe workshop will explore game as a tool of playful doing and a form of critical intervention. Participants will learn the basics of 3D scanning and Unity, with the expected outcome of a simple but playable video game prototype. 2024-12-06Visiting Hong Kong Palace MuseumTo allow students to have a deeper understanding of Chinese history and culture, the Chinese History and Citizenship and Social Development departments arrange for students to visit the Hong Kong Palace Museum for a field trip. 2024-12-04Constitution DayIn order to enhance students' understanding of Constitution Day, a short sharing session was held by students after the flag-raising ceremony at the morning assembly. In addition, the National Security Education team and the Citizenship and Social Development department held a quiz game during lunchtime, with nearly 230 students participating. Through games, exhibitions, and videos, students gained a deeper understanding of the Constitution. 2024-11-30Joint School Salesian Altar Boys DayThe Joint School Salesian Altar Boys Day was organized by the Salesian Youth Ministry Office on the afternoon of 30th November. Six members of the Altar Boys Sodality participated in the event to affirm their identity as altar servers and to communicate with altar servers from other schools. 2024-11-30"The Last Dance" movie watching and sharing sessionThe Last Dance focuses on traditional funeral customs, a topic rarely explored in Hong Kong films, highlighting the special significance of saying goodbye and helping the deceased move on. The school held a parent-child movie screening and post-movie sharing session on 30 November, 2024, with over 80 parents and students participating. 2024-11-29Picnic day (Form 1)This year's school picnic day for form one students was held at Lady MacLehose Holiday Village. In the morning, we had class competitions and everyone had a great time competing in various sports activities in the gym, building friendships and team spirit. 2024-11-23Experiential Learning DayExperiential Learning Day, organized by the School Promotion Team in collaboration with various school organizations, offered a series of learning activities for primary school students and their parents. 2024-11-23Cheers to Success Form 1 Activity - When you are an elderlyOn that day, the primary one students participated in an activity co-organized by Eldpathy, where they used various props to experience the lives of the elderly, learning about caring for others and understanding the difficulties they face on a daily basis. 2024-11-22The 24 Solar Terms-Light snow"The 24 solar terms" in traditional Chinese lunisolar calendars is one of the representative items on the national list of intangible cultural heritage, and it is a time knowledge system formed by observing the annual movement of the sun. November 22, 2024 happens to be "Xiaoxue" in the 24 solar terms. According to traditional customs, people will eat more warm and blood-nourishing foods such as mutton and black beans on that day. Therefore, our school prepared black bean milk for students to taste and also increased their understanding of traditional customs. 2024-11-22"Ten Commandments of Classroom" poster design competitionThe Spiritual, Moral and Civic Education Team held a "Ten Commandments of Classroom" poster design competition in September and the awards were presented by Principal To at the morning assembly on 22nd November. It aims at promoting biology education in Hong Kong and providing challenging enrichment learning opportunities for students with high potential in biology. 2024-11-02Flag Selling DayAbout 20 S4 volunteers participated in the Flag Day for Fu Hong Society to help the needy in the community. The proceeds will go to Casa Famiglia, a residential care service for the mentally handicapped, people with autism and developmental disorders, as well as a community inclusion scheme. 2024-11-01Exhibition: Lost and Found in Hong Kong: The Unsung Chinese Heroes at D-DayOur school arranged for students from the Chinese History class in Form 4 and Form 5 to visit the main library of the Chinese University of Hong Kong to see the exhibition "Lost and Found in Hong Kong: The Unsung Chinese Heroes at D-Day". This exhibition aims to deepen students' understanding of the contributions of Chinese soldiers in the European battlefield during World War II. 2024-10-30Dragon FeteSpiritual, Moral and Civic Education Team organized Dragon Fete in October. History Club, English Department, Citizenship and Social Development Department, Putonghua Society, Music Department, Religious Studies Department, STREAM Team and PTA joined the event and provided game booths and refreshments for students to learn more about our motherland and Chinese culture. 2024-10-23Salesian Sodality's Prayers for the DeceasedAround 60 Salesian Youth Sodality members and teachers went to St. Michael's Catholic Cemetery to pray for their departed relatives, Salesian priests and benefactors. In the prayer, Ms. Fung Ho Yan encouraged students to reflect on whether they cherish and lead meaningful lives. 2024-10-19Joint-school sharing day for Salesian Youth SodalityMore than 10 committee members of the Salesian Youth Sodality attended a joint-school sharing session. During the session, they learned about this year's pastoral theme through games and gained insights into their roles and responsibilities as committee members, equipping themselves with leadership skills. Afterwards, they set an environmental goal for the year and will promote environmental awareness during regular gatherings. 2024-10-19GBA Chinese culture workshopOur students visited the CUHK Shenzhen Research Institute and participated in a Chinese culture workshop with students from over 20 schools to learn more about Chinese culture, including food culture and the 56 ethnic groups in China.
