2024-12-27In-School Oratory Faith CampMore than ten students and teachers went to the Rosary Church for a three-day, two-night faith camp from 27th December to 29th December. 2024-12-24Christmas Service of the Salesian Youth Altar Boys Sodality and In-School Oratory Christmas CarolingAround 20 altar boys assisted in various liturgical celebrations of the Lord's Nativity. In addition to preparing the venue, rehearsing the liturgy, and having the Christmas party, they also went to the Salesian Missionary House to sing Christmas carols for the priests and brothers living there. The Christmas Mass was presided over by Rev. Domingos Leung, the Provincial of the SDB, while the students served earnestly around the altar. 2024-12-23Hoi Ha Ecological field study - Coastal EcologistHoi Ha Wan Marine Park is one of Hong Kong's first established marine parks, which accomodates a wide variety of corals and fish. The Biology department, in collaboration with the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF), led a group of Form 5 Biology students on an ecological study and coral viewing trip to Hoi Ha Wan. Through activities such as studying the sandy and rocky shore ecosystems, a boat trip to visit the coral conservation area, and a laboratory tour, the students gained first-hand experience of Hong Kong's winter marine ecology and conservation efforts. 2024-12-13English Culture Week - PaddingtonThe movie Paddington was screened as the last activity in English Culture Week on 13th December at Flamma Cafe. Juice was served by our English ambassadors to the English VIPs that day. Students enjoyed the movie and learnt about this beloved fictional character in British culture 2024-12-12English Culture Week - Crossbar ChallengeThe Crossbar Challenge was held on 12 December, the third day of English Culture Week. Students and teachers were invited to challenge themselves and vote for the champion of the English Premier League this year, with Mr. Sala, our NET, as the commentator. Our students and teachers showcased their athletic skills in this exciting event. 2024-12-09Bleaching lacquer workshopBleaching lacquer is one of the intangible cultural heritages of China. Bleaching lacquer is a new and unique art technique. During the activity, students mastered the history of bleaching lacquer, principles, colors and application of related products. After being taught the techniques by the teachers, students enjoy themselves through different experiments and keep on making innovative attempts. The workshop effectively enhances students' artistic sense, relieves stress, and heals their psychological and emotional well-being. 2024-12-07"ICAN Good Parents" lecture plus BBQ activity by PTA AcademyOur school's alumni, Dr Wong Chung Kwong, JP, former professor and department head of the Department of Psychiatry at CUHK, gave a lecture on "ICAN Good Parents" to help parents improve their mental and psychological health, promote parent-child relationships, and learn effective ways to raise children. Parents were also invited to participate in an online course to deepen their understanding and practice of the "ICAN Good Parents" model. After the lecture, parents, students and teachers went to the first floor badminton court for a barbecue, creating a harmonious atmosphere. 2024-12-07Video Game and Digital Creativity WorkshopThe workshop will explore game as a tool of playful doing and a form of critical intervention. Participants will learn the basics of 3D scanning and Unity, with the expected outcome of a simple but playable video game prototype. 2024-12-06Game booths of the Feast of the Immaculate ConceptionIn celebration of the Feast of the Immaculate Conception, the Extracurricular Activities Committee, together with leadership training students, the Parent-Teacher Association, the Student Union, the Career and Life Planning team, the Robotics Society, the Versiglia Sodality, the Programming Society, the Art Society, and the Model House, organized over 10 game booths for students to enjoy the holiday. 2024-12-06The Library club visits the Eslite BookstoreTo enhance students' interest in reading and promote their knowledge, teachers Lau Ngau Wei, Wong Chun Ming, Cheuk Ying Shan, and Lau Yee Kei from the Library Society led students to visit the Eslite Bookstore in Causeway Bay and purchase new books to enrich the library's collection. 2024-12-06Thanksgiving Mass of Immaculate Conception and Bible recitationIn the morning of 6 December, Fr. Denis Kong held a thanksgiving Mass in the school hall for over 200 Catholic teachers and students, members of the Salesian Youth Sodality, and the students of the Catechumenate. Additionally, our school chaplain, Fr. Antonio Leung, led a Bible recitation in the playground. Former student Mr. Leung King Sheng shared his journey of becoming a diving instructor, including his successes and challenges during the prayer. 2024-12-06Annual Charity Karaoke CompetitionHosted by Student Union and Spiritual, Moral & Civic Education team, co-organized by Music Department and Putonghua Department, Annual Charity Karaoke Competition was held on 6 and 19 December 2024. Through showcasing the talent as gifted by Jesus, participants raise money for poor children. With support from teachers and students, the event raised a total of $970.5 and demonstrates the attribute of beneficent of Salesian boys. 2024-12-06Visiting Hong Kong Palace MuseumTo allow students to have a deeper understanding of Chinese history and culture, the Chinese History and Citizenship and Social Development departments arrange for students to visit the Hong Kong Palace Museum for a field trip. 2024-12-04Constitution DayIn order to enhance students' understanding of Constitution Day, a short sharing session was held by students after the flag-raising ceremony at the morning assembly. In addition, the National Security Education team and the Citizenship and Social Development department held a quiz game during lunchtime, with nearly 230 students participating. Through games, exhibitions, and videos, students gained a deeper understanding of the Constitution. 2024-11-30Joint School Salesian Altar Boys DayThe Joint School Salesian Altar Boys Day was organized by the Salesian Youth Ministry Office on the afternoon of 30th November. Six members of the Altar Boys Sodality participated in the event to affirm their identity as altar servers and to communicate with altar servers from other schools. 2024-11-30"The Last Dance" movie watching and sharing sessionThe Last Dance focuses on traditional funeral customs, a topic rarely explored in Hong Kong films, highlighting the special significance of saying goodbye and helping the deceased move on. The school held a parent-child movie screening and post-movie sharing session on 30 November, 2024, with over 80 parents and students participating. 2024-11-29Picnic day (Form 1)This year's school picnic day for form one students was held at Lady MacLehose Holiday Village. In the morning, we had class competitions and everyone had a great time competing in various sports activities in the gym, building friendships and team spirit. 2024-11-23Experiential Learning DayExperiential Learning Day, organized by the School Promotion Team in collaboration with various school organizations, offered a series of learning activities for primary school students and their parents. 2024-11-23Cheers to Success Form 1 Activity - When you are an elderlyOn that day, the primary one students participated in an activity co-organized by Eldpathy, where they used various props to experience the lives of the elderly, learning about caring for others and understanding the difficulties they face on a daily basis. 2024-11-22The 24 Solar Terms-Light snow"The 24 solar terms" in traditional Chinese lunisolar calendars is one of the representative items on the national list of intangible cultural heritage, and it is a time knowledge system formed by observing the annual movement of the sun. November 22, 2024 happens to be "Xiaoxue" in the 24 solar terms. According to traditional customs, people will eat more warm and blood-nourishing foods such as mutton and black beans on that day. Therefore, our school prepared black bean milk for students to taste and also increased their understanding of traditional customs. 2024-11-22"Ten Commandments of Classroom" poster design competitionThe Spiritual, Moral and Civic Education Team held a "Ten Commandments of Classroom" poster design competition in September and the awards were presented by Principal To at the morning assembly on 22nd November. We hope that students will always remember the content of the Ten Commandments and become responsible and caring students. 2024-11-21Inter-school Athletics CompetitionOur school's high jump representative won the Boys high jump championship and achieved excellent results in the 100m and 110m hurdles, triple jump, and relay events, which is an inspiring performance. 2024-11-21Campus music event "I Sing and Dance on Campus"The campus music event "I Sing and Dance on Campus" took place in the school hall on 21 November 2024. It aims at promoting biology education in Hong Kong and providing challenging enrichment learning opportunities for students with high potential in biology. 2024-11-02Flag Selling DayAbout 20 S4 volunteers participated in the Flag Day for Fu Hong Society to help the needy in the community. The proceeds will go to Casa Famiglia, a residential care service for the mentally handicapped, people with autism and developmental disorders, as well as a community inclusion scheme. 2024-11-01Exhibition: Lost and Found in Hong Kong: The Unsung Chinese Heroes at D-DayOur school arranged for students from the Chinese History class in Form 4 and Form 5 to visit the main library of the Chinese University of Hong Kong to see the exhibition "Lost and Found in Hong Kong: The Unsung Chinese Heroes at D-Day". This exhibition aims to deepen students' understanding of the contributions of Chinese soldiers in the European battlefield during World War II. 2024-10-30Dragon FeteSpiritual, Moral and Civic Education Team organized Dragon Fete in October. History Club, English Department, Citizenship and Social Development Department, Putonghua Society, Music Department, Religious Studies Department, STREAM Team and PTA joined the event and provided game booths and refreshments for students to learn more about our motherland and Chinese culture. 2024-10-23Salesian Sodality's Prayers for the DeceasedAround 60 Salesian Youth Sodality members and teachers went to St. Michael's Catholic Cemetery to pray for their departed relatives, Salesian priests and benefactors. In the prayer, Ms. Fung Ho Yan encouraged students to reflect on whether they cherish and lead meaningful lives. 2024-10-21The Chinese language cultural exhibition "Hong Kong Literary Chronicles"The cultural exhibition "Hong Kong Literary Chronicles" focuses on the development of literature in Hong Kong. It starts with immigrant writers from the mainland in the 1950s and introduces the characteristics of Hong Kong literary works from different periods, as well as the representative writers and works of that time. 2024-10-19Joint-school sharing day for Salesian Youth SodalityMore than 10 committee members of the Salesian Youth Sodality attended a joint-school sharing session. During the session, they learned about this year's pastoral theme through games and gained insights into their roles and responsibilities as committee members, equipping themselves with leadership skills. Afterwards, they set an environmental goal for the year and will promote environmental awareness during regular gatherings. 2024-10-19GBA Chinese culture workshopOur students visited the CUHK Shenzhen Research Institute and participated in a Chinese culture workshop with students from over 20 schools to learn more about Chinese culture, including food culture and the 56 ethnic groups in China. 2024-10-13Thailand International Mathematical Olympiad (heat round)In mid-October, our school participated in the heat round of the Thailand International Mathematical Olympiad (Hong Kong Region) organized by the Thailand Mathematics Society. Among the approximately 4,400 representatives from secondary schools in Hong Kong, 34 students from our school received awards in their respective groups. Among them, 4D student Ip Sheung Yu and 5B student Fung Cheuk Man ranked in the top 8% of the high school division and won the gold medal. 2024-10-13Salesian Youth Altar boy committees' inaugurationThe new Salesian Youth Altar boy committees' inauguration was held on 13th October in the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Chapel. After the homily, the new Chairman and four committee members took their oath together. They promised to set a good example for others. Fr Antonio Leung, encouraged them not only to do their best in their duties or serve the altar, but also to lead the members to walk closer to Jesus every day. 2024-10-12"Cheers to Success" opening ceremony 2024-25The "Cheers to Success" program held its opening ceremony in mid-October, introducing the program's content and philosophy and appointing youth leaders through a symbolic ceremony, officially marking the start of the program. 2024-10-10Form 3 Leadership training activityOn 10 October, our Form 3 students participated in an exciting leadership training activity at the Hong Kong Award for Young People (HKAYP) Jockey Club Duke of Edinburgh Training Camp. 2024-10-09The Kick-Off Ceremony of Sodality MeetingAround 200 members of the seven Sodalities attended the Kick-Off Ceremony of Sodality meeting. During the ceremony, Ms. Fung Ho Yan introduced the mentors and objectives of each sodality. She reminded all the members to fulfill their responsibilities and bring positive influences to their schoolmates. In the first term, the school held a Kendama Interest Group every Monday after school. 2024-10-07Speech training workshopSelected students from the Chinese Language and Putonghua departments will participate in the 76th Hong Kong Schools Speech Festival (2024) due to their excellent oral expression skills. To prepare for the competition, professional coaches have been hired to provide training and help students familiarize themselves with the material and improve their recitation skills. We hope that our students will achieve good results in the competition. 2024-10-05Inter-school Volleyball CompetitionIn the "2024-2025 Hong Kong and Kowloon Inter-School Volleyball Competition" Division 2 Boys event, for the first time since the merger of Hong Kong and Kowloon schools, our school's team made it to the finals after over 3 months of hard work, defeating other teams with a score of 2:1 and ultimately finishing as the runner-up to Pui Ching Middle School. 2024-10-05In-School-Oratory Summer Activities and First Term Picnic DayOn 5th October, more than 10 students and teachers from the Oratory participated in the first semester's outing activity. During the event, the teachers and students began with prayers before heading to Tsuen Wan for a bowling competition. Throughout the competition, the students looked out for one another, which fostered a spirit of unity and enhanced their communication skills. Ultimately, the event concluded in an atmosphere filled with joy and camaraderie. 2024-10-02The Beginning of the School Year massThe Beginning of the School Year mass was held on 2nd October after school. More than 200 sodality members, Catholic students and teachers attended the mass in the Parish in Salesian School. Fr Antonio Leung invited the students to learn from Bosco's 9-year-old dream. Mother Mary reminded the young Bosco to be humble, steadfast and strong. Students should take the initiative to ask questions in order to become a wise and strong person to influence the world and others. 2024-10-01Rosary Gathering at LunchOctober is the month of Our Lady of the Rosary. Members and teachers of the Salesian Youth Sodality and Oratory take turns participating in the Rosary gathering held in the chapel on the third floor during lunch time, praying together for world peace and various intentions. 2024-09-28Leadership training for representatives of class associationsIn order to cultivate teamwork among class leaders and executives, the school discipline team held a leadership training activity for representatives of class associations in Form 1 and Form 2 at the end of September. The goal was to help students understand the importance of cooperation and build trust through encouragement and sharing, thereby strengthening their teamwork and relationships and developing their leadership and resilience. 2024-09-28Salesian Family Joint-School Opening MassOn 28th September, more than 10 Salesian Youth Sodality members from our school participated in the Salesian Family Joint-School Opening Mass in the School Hall at Tang King Po School. 2024-09-28EDB Peer Mediator Workshop14 student leaders from our school participated in the Peer Mediator Workshop organized by the Education Bureau. The workshop lasted for three days, and the first day was the introductory workshop. Our students actively participated and proactively tried, laying a foundation for their future work as mediators in the school. 2024-09-27Class monitors and discipline prefects inaugural ceremonyAt the end of September, the school discipline team arranged for the class monitors and discipline prefects of Form 1 and Form 2 to hold an inaugural ceremony. In addition to receiving class badges for their daily wear, Vice Principal Lee also came to encourage and urge everyone to fulfill their duties and hold their positions tightly. 2024-09-22Hong Kong Island Region Footdrill Competition 2024Our school's scout group participated in the Hong Kong Island Region Footdrill Competition 2024 on 22nd September 22nd. The students were dedicated during training and eventually lived up to expectations by winning third place in the drill competition (selection group) and first place in the flag raising competition. They were also recommended to represent the Island Region in the Hong Kong Scout Rally 2024. The awards were presented during the Island Festival Day 2024 on 6th October. 2024-09-20Exploration of Biodiversity in Hong Kong Short Video CompetitionThe "Exploration of Biodiversity in Hong Kong Short Video Competition" organized by the Moral, Civic and National Education Section of the Education Bureau aims to encourage students to actively explore the biodiversity in Hong Kong. By conducting field surveys and recording different wild animals and plants with a camera, students can increase their knowledge and understanding of local ecology and biodiversity, and cultivate their love and appreciation for the natural environment. 2024-09-19Grand Opening of English Corner Clubhouse Lunch SessionsThe grand opening of our English Corner Clubhouse Lunch Sessions took place on September 19th during lunchtime. Students were engaged with our NETs and English ambassadors in vibrant conversation and fun-filled games, while delicious snacks were also served. 2024-09-16English Corner VIP Award PresentationIn recognition of student participation, the English Department has awarded special gifts to the top three VIPs who were most frequent visitors to the English Corner during the last school year. These dedicated individuals received a Paris 2024 Olympics Pin Badge as a token of appreciation for their commitment to engaging with the English Corner community. 2024-09-09English Ambassador TrainingIn preparation for the English Corner Clubhouse Lunch Sessions, the English Department have recruited the help of over 10 elite students to be the English Ambassadors. These dedicated students underwent intensive training and will continue to receive regular Monday training sessions. They will prepare games, do promotions, and assist English teachers to run the lunch sessions.
